India's Maharashtra Medical Tourism Services Limited signs MoU with Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Mumbai, Viraj Kulkarni, has welcomed both the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Maharashtra Medical Tourism Services Limited (MMTSL) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI) and the media attention it has generated in India.

In a LinkedIn post, Kulkarni said, "We are pleased to share that Travel News Digest, a leading publication in the travel and tourism sector, has featured the recent MoU signing between Maharashtra Medical Tourism Services Limited (MMTSL) and Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCoCI)."

Among other things, the article notes, "Maharashtra’s long-standing and proven expertise as a wellness tourism destination has opened a new and exciting avenue for collaboration: the Republic of Cyprus.

Maharashtra Medical Tourism Services Limited (MMTSL), led by Shri N. Gatne, IAS, and Dr. Rachana Goragandhi, signed an MoU with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCoCI), led by Philokypros Roussounides. The exchange took place in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis. Mr. Viraj Kulkarni, Hon. Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Mumbai, facilitated the strategic collaboration and exchanged the MoU on behalf of CCoCI."

The article also noted that Cyprus was known for its wellness-oriented lifestyle, offering access to, "Traditional AYUSH healing systems focused on healing, rejuvenation, and restoration, over 150,000 doctors and medical professionals, significant cost advantages, 2,181+ Ayurvedic and holistic healing centres, integrated travel and post-care facilities, JCI- and NABH-accredited multi-speciality hospitals, extensive nursing care in serene environments, services including Ayurveda, Panchakarma, Yoga, Meditation, Naturopathy, Detox, Stress Management, and Rehabilitation."

It also notes that Cyprus attracts over four million tourists annually and that "stablishing a presence and strengthening strategic ties will enable faster and more efficient access, further supported by Maharashtra’s strong network."

"Maharashtra, with its diverse capabilities and a leading $600 billion economy, presents significant opportunities for Cypriot collaboration. At the same time, it benefits from extending its services into a new and welcoming market, the article continues, adding, "Together, Maharashtra and Cyprus hold strong potential to expand medical tourism.
