Cyta nears appointment of new CEO as final candidates shortlisted

Cyta is expected to appoint its new Chief Executive Officer in early April, as the organisation moves into the final stages of its selection process, according to media information. The successful candidate will take the helm of one of Cyprus’ most significant semi-governmental organisations.

The shortlist of candidates for the second phase has now reportedly been finalised. As reported by Philenews, its sources indicate that five candidates have been selected from among all applicants and will be presented to the organisation’s Board of Directors. The shortlist was compiled by an external consultant to ensure transparency and credibility in the evaluation process.

The next stage will see the Board conduct interviews with the five candidates before reaching a final decision. However, the appointment will also require approval from the Council of Ministers. Cyta’s internal procedures are expected to be completed in early April, barring any unforeseen delays, although the exact timing of the official appointment remains unclear.

Beyond navigating the challenges of the telecommunications market, the new leader will also oversee Cyta’s strategic expansion into the energy sector.

Following recent parliamentary approval, Cyta is now permitted to operate in the electricity market, with a focus on renewable energy sources. The organisation aims to offer energy services bundled with telecommunications packages, including telephony, internet and television. This move forms part of Cyta’s broader strategy to remain competitive, especially as rival telecommunications providers are also expected to enter the electricity market.
