The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, has posted a message of support to Cyprus on X, responding to a post by President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, following the deployment of a Dutch frigate to the island.
In his message, the Dutch Prime Minister wrote: “The Netherlands stands with Cyprus. Your security is our security.”
The post was made in response to an earlier message by President Christodoulides on the same platform, in which he referred to the importance of the Netherlands’ decision to deploy a frigate to Cyprus and highlighted cooperation and solidarity among European countries to strengthen security and stability in the region.
“I express my deep appreciation to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, and the government of the country for this tangible support to Cyprus, with the decision to deploy a frigate to Cyprus, together with other European partners,” the President wrote.
He added that this is European solidarity in practice.
“Standing with Cyprus means defending the security and stability of the European Union,” Christodoulides noted.
