The format of meetings under the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, which were scheduled to take place in Cyprus in March, is being adjusted as developments in the wider region have affected airline schedules, including flights to and from airports in the Republic of Cyprus, as well as more broadly in the region.
Specifically, as reported to CNA by Cyprus Presidency sources, the Presidency has decided, with the aim of ensuring the uninterrupted participation of representatives of member states and European Union institutions, that these meetings will be held online instead of in person, with the exception of the informal ministerial meetings in March.
These will not be held online and new dates are being considered for them to take place in Cyprus with physical presence.
According to the decision taken, these arrangements will remain in place until the end of March, in order to provide the necessary predictability for participants' planning.
According to the same sources, the work of the Cyprus Presidency is proceeding normally, in cooperation with the relevant ministries and deputy ministries.
The sources also clarified that the meetings of the Cyprus Presidency taking place in Brussels are not affected.
