The message that "Cyprus-India relations are entering the most dynamic phase of recent decades, with a shared vision for strategy, trust and economic integration" was sent by Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, who was speaking at the Cyprus Business & Investment Summit 2026 organised by the High Commission of India in Cyprus.
The Deputy Minister emphasised that "we are in a period in which the wider region is experiencing recurring geopolitical shocks, which directly affect trade, energy flows and investor confidence. In these circumstances, connectivity becomes a key factor of stability, ensuring that trade continues and energy reaches markets with predictability."
From the stage of the event, the Deputy Minister also pointed out that "Cyprus is investing in three main axes for its strategic integration into the India - Middle East - Europe Economic Corridor: in transport, energy and shipping," adding that "the port of Vassilikos is being upgraded to a modern, deep, water, industrial and commercial port, while Larnaka Airport is expanding its passenger and cargo capacity to enhance air connectivity."
Referring to the energy sector, she stressed that, "Cyprus, in cooperation with Greece, is strengthening energy security, supporting the integration of renewable sources and developing the Vassilikos energy hub, strengthening LNG infrastructure and electricity production, while in the digital sector she pointed out that "Cyprus is becoming a digital crossroads in the eastern Mediterranean with high-capacity submarine cables, creating the conditions for an India-Cyprus AI Corridor."
The Deputy Minister recalled that "the establishment of a banking organisation's office in India and the listing of shares of a Cypriot company on the GIFT City Indian Stock Exchange mark concrete steps towards strengthening bilateral economic cooperation."
She noted that "through the India-Greece-Cyprus Business and Investment Council and the Joint Action Plan, political will is being translated into tangible economic results, making Cyprus a reliable European gateway and partner in the region."
