Efforts underway to repatriate 600 Cypriots currently in Gulf states

Efforts are underway to repatriate approximately 600 Cypriot citizens who are currently in Gulf countries, competent sources told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) on Monday.

According to the same sources, around 600 Cypriot nationals are in Gulf states, and efforts are being made to bring them back to Cyprus once airports in those countries reopen.

The same sources said that some of them reside there permanently, while others were in the region on holiday.

Efforts include chartering aircraft to transport these individuals back to Cyprus.

It is recalled that, according to statements made to CNA on Sunday by the spokesperson of Cyprus’ Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates said that the UAE authorities would cover accommodation costs for persons affected by the current situation. Members of the public are urged to contact +97126576283 for information. Further details are available in a post by the Cyprus embassy in the UAE.

Cyprus citizens are also urged to register on the online platform Connect2CY (https://www.connect2cy.gov.cy) by filling out all requested details thoroughly, especially their telephone number and current location.
