Christos Angelides: Flight cancellations also led to cancellations of hotel reservations - PASYXE on constant alert

The cancellations of flights by various airlines to and from airports in the region, due to the chaotic situation in recent days in the Middle East, are also having an impact on Cyprus' tourism, as cancellations of hotel reservations have already been recorded.

This was stated in statements to InBusinessNews by the Director General of the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE) Christos Angelides, emphasising that the Association is closely monitoring developments and is being constantly vigilant.

More specefically, when asked to comment on developments in the region and whether they have begun to affect the hotel industry, Angelides said that "as always, we remain calm, we maintain our contacts with our partners and we are constantly evaluating developments."

"This week we are in Germany, where we will have a series of contacts with major travel organisers and we will coordinate with the aim of achieving the best for our country," he added.

Asked if hotel reservations have been canceled or if there is a slowdown in pre-bookings, the Director General of PASYXE responded in the affirmative.

"There have been some cancellations of reservations due to the cancellation of flights by various airlines to and from airports in the region. We hope that in the coming days the situation will normalise and there will be no further cancellations of reservations or a slowdown in advance reservations," he stressed.

"The message we are sending is calm and composure. I repeat, we are systematically monitoring developments and remain constantly vigilant, hoping that this crisis will end as soon as possible," Angelides concluded.
