Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michael Damianos is in Brussels to chair a meeting of the EU Competitiveness Council (COMPET) for Internal Market and Industry on Thursday, 26 February.
According to an official announcement, the Council will focus on the proposal to establish a European Competitiveness Fund, aimed at enhancing the resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises and European value chains.
At the same time, Council conclusions on the Consumer Agenda to 2030 are expected to be approved, while Ministers will discuss the 2026 Annual Report on the Single Market and Competitiveness, as well as contingency plans for industrial resilience in the steel, automotive and chemicals sectors. A working lunch will also be held at midday on removing barriers in the Single Market.
