Tourist arrivals and trips of Cypriots abroad show an annual increase in January

Tourist arrivals to Cyprus in January and trips of Cypriots abroad recorded an annual increase of 8.5% and 15.0% respectively.

According to CySTAT, the arrivals of tourists reached 121,625 in January 2026 compared to 112,100 in January 2025, recording an increase of 8.5%.

A total of 170,045 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in January 2026 compared to 147,858 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 15.0%.

Tourist arrivals

The arrivals of tourists reached 121,625 in January 2026 compared to 112,100 in January 2025, recording an increase of 8.5%.

Arrivals from Poland were the main source of tourism for January 2026, with a share of 18.6% (22,575) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 18.1% (21,981), the United Kingdom with 15.8% (19,180), Greece with 9.6% (11,650) and Germany with 6.2% (7,504).

In January 2026, 60.7% of tourists traveled for holidays, 22.8% visited friends and relatives and 16.2% traveled for business purposes. Respectively, in January 2025, 56.4% of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 24.5% visited friends or relatives and 19.0% visited Cyprus for business purposes.

Returns of residents of Cyprus

A total of 170,045 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in January 2026 compared to 147,858 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 15.0%.

The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in January 2026 were Greece with a share of 27.6% (46,970), the United Kingdom with 8.5% (14,398) and Poland with 5.8% (9,865).

The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in January 2026 was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 82.2%, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 16.3%, studies 0.7% and other reasons 0.7%.
