Michalis Damianos highlights state support for the green and digital transition of the supply chain

The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Michalis Damianos has highlighted the crucial role played by the supply chain sector in the modern economy.

He was speaking at the InBusiness Supply Chain & Logistics Awards which took place within the framework of the 19th Supply Chain & Logistics EXPO Conference and Exhibition, at the Pavilion Hall.

The award ceremony was part of the conference, an institution that has established itself as a meeting point for supply and logistics businesses, at a time when the industry is rapidly transforming.

In his brief greeting, Damianos referred to the new global reality, which, as he noted, simultaneously creates challenges and opportunities for businesses. He placed particular emphasis on the role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, which are now shaping supply chains, enhancing their transparency, efficiency and resilience.

The Minister emphasised that the State actively supports projects and initiatives that upgrade infrastructure and accelerate the green transition, noting that the Ministry of Energy is working systematically to implement policies that enhance the extroversion of the Cypriot economy.

As he mentioned, technologies such as real-time product monitoring, systems ensuring transparency and security at every stage of transportation, smart warehouses, robotics applications, fleet management systems and green infrastructure are now valuable tools for the operation of businesses and enhancing their competitiveness.

At the same time, he stressed that the green transition, energy saving, the use of renewable energy sources and the digitalisation of processes are not only European commitments, but necessary conditions for ensuring the resilience of the Cypriot economic ecosystem.

In closing, he expressed his positive assessment of the dynamics of the supply chain sector and reiterated the State's readiness to support the efforts of the sector, strengthening the prospects for further development and international presence.
