The warehouse is evolving into a critical pillar of strategic importance for businesses, as increasing volumes of movement, demands for speed and the need for optimal utilisation of available space lead to a search for solutions beyond traditional operating models.
As part of the 19th Supply Chain & Logistics EXPO, the Export Sales Manager, SC Dexion Storage Solutions SRL, Mihai Dărăban, presented the topic 'How semi-automation transforms warehouse performance', focusing on the role of Dexion - Gonvarri Material Handling in the development of modern intralogistics solutions.
As he mentioned, Gonvarri Material Handling has a strong international presence, specializing in the design and construction of storage systems, which are used by customers throughout Europe and beyond. Engineering and production know-how is, according to him, a key element in providing reliable and efficient storage solutions.
Presenting the product portfolio, Dărăban referred to solutions covering both pallet storage and small parts management, with systems addressing different business needs and sectors of activity. As he noted, these solutions are applied in a wide range of industries, reflecting the diversification of requirements in the modern supply chain.
Particular mention was made of Dexion's strategic partnership with Phil-Andreou in Cyprus, which, as he underlined, combines Dexion's technological and engineering expertise with Phil-Andreou's local knowledge and experience. The aim of the partnership is to provide modern, flexible storage solutions that go beyond classic racking systems and respond to the evolving needs of the Cypriot logistics market.
In this context, Mihai Dărăban presented the Pallet Shuttle system, describing it as a semi-automated storage solution for pallet management. As he explained, the system allows pallets to be moved in deep aisles via a remote-controlled shuttle, reducing the need for forklifts to enter the aisles and supporting both LIFO and FIFO operations. According to him, it is a simple and efficient solution that contributes to improving the capacity and operational efficiency of warehouses.
The presentation concluded with a reference to successful examples of the application of the company's solutions, which - as he noted - demonstrate how semi-automation can substantially contribute to the formation of high-performance warehouses, especially in markets such as Cyprus, where the supply chain is in a phase of development and upgrading.
