Annual growth in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) stood at 0.8% for the period January–December 2025, according to data released by CySTAT. In December, inflation recorded a marginal increase of 0.1% compared with the same month in 2024.
On a monthly basis, however, the HICP fell by 0.4% in December 2025 compared with November, reflecting disinflationary pressures towards the end of the year.
Compared with December 2024, the largest annual increases were recorded in Recreation and Culture (up 5.1%) and Restaurants and Hotels (up 4.4%), while the largest decreases were observed in Clothing and Footwear (down 7.9%) and Housing, Water, Electricity and Gas (down 3.2%).
In relation to November 2025, the most significant monthly changes were recorded in Transport (down 1.7%) and Restaurants and Hotels (down 0.9%), mainly attributed to lower fuel prices and seasonal factors.
For the period January–December 2025 as a whole, compared with the corresponding period of 2024, the largest increases were recorded in Recreation and Culture (up 6.2%) and Restaurants and Hotels (up 5.2%), while Clothing and Footwear registered the sharpest decline, down 6.4%.
By economic category, the largest annual change compared with December 2024 was recorded in Energy, where prices fell by 5.4%. On a monthly basis, compared with November 2025, Services recorded the largest decrease, declining by 0.8%.
