The number of bounced cheques in 2025 fell to 213, according to the preliminary list in the Central Information Register of the Central Bank of Cyprus.
Based on the preliminary list, the number of bounced cheques in 2025 fell to 213, compared to 300 in 2024, 356 in 2023 and 473 in 2022.
The value of outstanding cheques in 2025 was €630,249, in 2024 it was €617,873, in 2023 it reached €1,767,912 and in 2022 it was €1,518,669.
Moreover, the entries in the Central Information Register for issuers of bounced cheques reached 113 in 2025 (legal entities 39, natural persons 28 and natural persons controlling legal entities 46). In contrast, this total number in 2024 was 202, in 2023 it was 274 while in 2022 it was 255.
