Following the joint statements by the Minister of Finance together with the Chair of the Finance Committee, DIKO MP Christiana Erotokritou, and representatives of DISY and DIKO, the tax reform bills have returned to the Committee so that final decisions can be taken.
In his remarks, the Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, had said that “there has been a major convergence of views and I expect that, within the margins the Government has accepted, amendments will be submitted by parties so that we can move forward with the tax reform@.
“We as a Government are ready to accept some increase in the tax-free threshold. We have also accepted and understood the issue of staggered subsidies in relation to the number of children and to increase the limits of the income criteria,” Keravnos stressed.
AKEL reacted to the Minister’s meeting with the above-mentioned parties. In a post on X, AKEL General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou spoke of an “undermining” of parliamentary procedures.
