Five new Ministers to be sworn in following Cabinet reshuffle

Five government ministers will be sworn in to their new posts today, Monday, 8 December following a Cabinet reshuffle.

Michael Damianos, who until now served as Minister of Health, will be sworn in as Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry following George Papanastasiou's departure from that post.

DEPA MP Marinos Moushiouttas will be sworn in as the new Minister of Labour and Social Insurance with Yiannis Panayiotou stepping down from the position.

Constantinos Fitiris, who was most recently Chief Marina Officer of Ayia Napa Marina, will be the new Justice Minister, with Marios Hartsiotis leaving the post to become Presidential Commissioner.

Neophytos Charalambides, most recently a Limassol city councillor, has been appointed to the position previously held by Michael Damianos as the Minister of Health.

Marilena Evangelou is leaving her post as Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, and Clea Hadjistephanou Papaellina, most recently a permanent member of the Special Teaching Staff of the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus,  is being sworn in, in her place.

The new members of the Cabinet are expected to take office on Monday, following the swearing in ceremony to be held this morning, at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia. This will be followed by handover ceremonies at the affected Ministries.

Specifically, at 9am (local time), the new Ministers of Energy, Labour, Justice and Health and the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare will attend the swearing in ceremony, which takes place in the presence of the President of the Republic.

Subsequently, the handover ceremony of the Ministry of Health will take place at 10.30 am, the handover ceremony of the Ministry of Labour at 11am, while the handover ceremony of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare will take place at 11.30am.

Finally, the handover ceremony of the Ministry of Energy will take place at noon, while the handover ceremony of the Ministry of Justice will take place at 12.30pm.
