AEGEAN and Hermes Airports celebrate the launch of direct Larnaca – Brussels flights

AEGEAN, in collaboration with Hermes Airports, celebrated the launch of the new direct flight from Larnaka to Brussels with a special event for passengers at Larnaka International Airport. This route, as of 1 December, connects Cyprus directly with the capital of Belgium.

The direct flight connection between Larnaka and Brussels ensures immediate access to a strategically important European destination, especially ahead of Cyprus's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU. AEGEAN will operate three direct flights weekly during December, while from 1 January to 30 June, 2026, flights are scheduled to increase to five per week.

The launch of the new route is part of AEGEAN's broader development plan for 2026, which includes, among others, an 8% increase in capacity compared to 2025, with a total of 1.5 million seats offered to and from Cyprus. This development underscores the strategic importance of the Cypriot market for the company and reinforces its commitment to continuously strengthening the island's connectivity.

Marina Valvi, Corporate Affairs & Communications Director at AEGEAN, stated, “We are delighted to launch the direct Larnaka-Brussels route, a route of high added value both for Cypriot passengers and international visitors to the island. AEGEAN remains firmly committed to strengthening the connectivity of Cyprus by offering reliable and high-quality travel options, facilitating access to key European destinations. In close cooperation with Hermes Airports, we continue to invest in our presence on the island, providing passengers with the comfort, service, and high level of travel experience that AEGEAN has been delivering for more than 26 years.”

In her address, Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, Marketing & Communication at Hermes Airports, highlighted: “The launch of the new direct connection between Larnaka and Brussels is another important step towards strengthening the connectivity of Cyprus. This route will facilitate the work of the Cyprus European Presidency, and simultaneously fulfill a long-standing request for a direct connection to the capital of Europe. We are committed to collaborating closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Cyprus receives dynamic promotion to the Belgian public and that the direct service is successfully sustained beyond 2026”.

For AEGEAN, Cyprus has historically served as a critical pillar of its operations. The company ensures consistent connectivity to the island through both regular direct and charter flights, leveraging its main hubs in Athens and Thessaloniki. In a related move, the company will relaunch its direct route to Heraklion on December 2nd with two weekly flights, while maintaining its extensive existing network: up to seven daily flights to Athens, up to seven weekly flights to Thessaloniki, and up to eight weekly flights to Tel Aviv.
