The Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio fell to 2.8% at the end of August 2025, from 2.9% at the end of July 2025, according to the updated aggregate data using the European Banking Authority (EBA) methodology, published by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).
As stated, at the end of August 2025, the NPL ratio of the banking sector, excluding loans and advances to Central Banks and Credit Institutions, remained stable at 5.5%.
According to the data, total NPLs decreased at the end of August 2025 by €14 million to €1.42 billion (excluding Central Banks and Credit Institutions), from €1.43 billion in July 2025. Corporate NPLs amounted to €608 million and household NPLs to €785 million.
It is added that the coverage ratio of NPLs with provisions increased to 62.6% at the end of August 2025, compared with 62.2% at the end of July 2025, while total restructured loans at the end of August 2025 amounted to €1.2 bn, out of which loans of €0.6 bn continue to be classified as NPLs.
