Finance Minister discusses MFF with European Commission official

The Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 was at the focus of the discussion of the Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, with the Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Budget, Stephanie Riso, at the Ministry of Finance.

Riso has been paying a working visit to Cyprus ahead of the assumption of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026.

In a press release issued by the Ministry, it is noted that the MFF is a top priority for the Republic of Cyprus. “The Minister briefed the Director-General on the Presidency’s planning and intentions, highlighting the importance of close cooperation with the competent bodies of the Council in order to achieve substantial progress,” the press release reads.

At the same time, it is mentioned that the Minister noted that Cyprus will make use of the prescribed coordination procedures to ensure the smooth and timely advancement of the relevant dossiers.

“The Minister assured the Director-General that Cyprus will work with responsibility, consistency, and efficiency throughout its Presidency, striving for the best possible outcome and the advancement of the Union’s critical fiscal matters,” the press release adds.

The meeting took place on Monday, 1 December.
