Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis has submitted the Instrument of Accession to the Hong Kong International Convention for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships to the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.
Posting on X, the deputy ministry said Hadjimanolis handed over the Instrument of Accession - the formal document a country submits to deposit its ratification, acceptance, approval, or accession to the treaty - to Arsenio Dominguez at the headquarters of IMO in London, where its Assembly is holding its 34th session from 24 November to 3 December.
"This action, underscores Cyprus’ commitment to global standards for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships," the post concluded.
