Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis expressed his satisfaction with the tourism statistics for October, stating that it is the first time arrivals in October have exceeded half a million. He added that the period January–October 2025 was also “the best ten-month period in the history of our country’s tourism”.
“The October statistics confirm the strong performance of our country’s tourism sector, but more importantly, they confirm the significant leap made in our effort to extend the tourism season, an effort that serves as the passport for the full transformation of Cyprus into a year-round tourist destination,” Koumis said in his statement.
Specifically, he noted that "it is the first time the month of October has exceeded half a million arrivals, something we had anticipated and which certainly satisfies us".
Koumis added that this is a major achievement, especially compared to previous years. Compared with last year, the increase amounts to 17.1%, and to 34.2% over a three-year horizon.
"It is important for the 'shoulder-months' to acquire, through their performance, the momentum of a permanent summer character, so that destinations and tourism businesses can remain open for longer periods. Of course, it is also up to the businesses themselves to assess the new realities in tourism and make their decisions," he stressed.
Regarding the ten-month results, the Minister noted that "as expected, it is the best ten-month period in the history of our country’s tourism." Specifically, an increase of 11.1% is recorded compared with the previous year, and an increase of 40.8% over a three-year period, "results that undoubtedly satisfy us", the Deputy Minister said.
"As a government, we worked methodically and in a coordinated manner toward this goal, focusing on improving air connectivity, accompanied by targeted digital promotion actions and incentive schemes focusing on special forms of tourism and the winter period," he concluded.
