President Nikos Christodoulides says that announcements will soon be made on issues concerning the energy sector.
In statements to the press before attending a luncheon hosted by the UAE Ambassador at his residence in Nicosia on the afternoon of 6 November, President Christodoulides referred to advanced discussions on all energy issues with both US companies and neighbouring states.
Replying to a journalist’s remark that there is a stronger interest in the energy sector on behalf of the US given the signing of an agreement in Greece today with the involvement of US interests, and asked whether this stronger US interest will also be transferred to the Cyprus issue, the President said that "at the level of consultations with US companies and neighbouring states, advanced discussions are taking place".
The discussions, he concluded, concern all energy issues and “we will soon have specific announcements.”
