French Minister Delegate for Europe to hold meetings in Nicosia

French Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad is expected to arrive in Cyprus on Monday, 27 October where he will be received by President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and hold a meeting with Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna.

According to CNA sources, Cyprus and France are further enhancing dialogue and are continuing consultations to upgrade their Strategic Agenda, with the aim of expanding bilateral cooperation at the political and economic levels and in security matters.

At 2.15pm on Monday, a bilateral meeting will be held between Haddad and Raouna, and at 3.45pm the French official will be received by President Christodoulides.

The CNA sources said that the two sides have been promoting the further enhancement of their dialogue and are continuing consultations to upgrade their Strategic Agenda, which aims to expand bilateral cooperation at the political and economic levels and in security matters.

The same sources stressed that the promotion of a strategic dialogue and the upgrade of the Strategic Agenda will create a new dynamic for the bilateral relations and will broaden and deepen the fields of cooperation in sectors such as energy, defence and education.

They also noted that Haddad's visit provides an opportunity for further coordination between the two countries on European policy issues.

Cyprus' Deputy Minister for European Affairs is expected to inform the French official about the priorities of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU and the actions it will promote.

The two officials will also exchange views on issues that are high on the European agenda, as well as on important dossiers that the Cyprus Presidency will be called upon to address such as the new Multiannual Financial Framework, the Simplification Process, the Common Agricultural Policy, Defence and Security issues, Enlargement, and Migration.
