The National Betting Authority strengthening prevention with the upcoming 8th Safer Gambling Conference

The National Betting Authority (NBA), as an independent supervisory authority with financial autonomy, is responsible for regulating and overseeing betting activity in Cyprus, with the primary aim of protecting players and society, while also fostering the sustainable growth of the gambling sector.

Since its establishment in 2012, the Authority has developed strategies and initiatives for Safer Gambling, based on a holistic public health approach that combines individual responsibility of players with the collective responsibility of the state, institutions, and all stakeholders.

In this context, the NBA is once again organizing the 8th Safer Gambling Conference, titled “From Insight to Impact: Building Safer Gambling Ecosystems.” The conference will mark the launch of Safer Gambling Week 2025, providing a platform for information sharing, awareness-raising, and the exchange of best practices for safer engagement with betting and gambling.

The conference will take place on 13 October 2025 at the Hilton Nicosia Hotel and will host distinguished speakers from the public and private sectors, as well as academics and specialized professionals in the gambling field.

The aim of the conference is to highlight the tools and best practices that enhance safe participation in betting and gambling, to present recent regulatory and institutional developments, and to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experiences among professionals and stakeholders.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights through presentations, discussions, and Q&A sessions, acquiring practical knowledge that can be applied both professionally and socially. The organization of the Conference forms part of the NBA’s strategic goal of strengthening prevention, through initiatives that empower players, support society, and cultivate a culture of safe participation. Particular emphasis will be placed on presenting international best practices, while also adapting them to the Cypriot context in order to develop effective player protection policies.

Who should attend

The Safer Gambling Conference addresses a broad spectrum of society, including citizens and organized groups, betting and gambling professionals, academics, mental health professionals, business consultants, media representatives, youth officers, law firms, advertising agencies, sports federations, and other interested stakeholders.

Participation in the conference offers a unique opportunity for information sharing, exchange of views, and networking, reinforcing the collective effort to shape a safer and more responsible gambling environment in Cyprus.
