Job vacancies in the second quarter of 2025 show 16.5% increase compared to Q2 2024

The number of job vacancies in the second quarter of 2025 reached 16,053, recording an increase of 2,275 vacancies (16.5%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year, when the number was 13,778, according to newly released CySTAT data.

Compared to the first quarter of 2025, the number of job vacancies increased by 2,529 (18.7%) (Table 1).

The job vacancy rate in the second quarter of 2025 was 3.3%, while the job vacancy rate in the previous quarter and the second quarter of 2024 was 2.9% and 3.0% respectively. The largest job vacancy rates in the second quarter of 2025 were observed in the Sectors of Accommodation and Food Service Activities (6.6%), Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (4.7%), and Administrative and Support Service Activities (4.0%) (Table 2).

Meanwhile, according to Eurostat, in the second quarter of 2025, the job vacancy rate was 2.2% in the euro area, a decrease from 2.4% in the first quarter of 2025 and from 2.6% in the second quarter of 2024. The job vacancy rate in the EU was 2.1% in the second quarter of 2025, dropping from 2.2% in the first quarter of 2025 and down from 2.4% in the second quarter of 2024.

Among the Member States for which comparable data are available, the highest job vacancy rates in the second quarter of 2025 were recorded in the Netherlands (4.2%) and Belgium (3.9%), followed by Austria (3.4%), Cyprus (3.3%), and Malta (3.2%). The lowest rates were observed in Romania (0.6%), Spain and Poland (both 0.8%), followed by Bulgaria (0.9%).
