Spokesperson highlights significant reforms in digital services for citizens

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis has noted significant reforms promoted by the Government of Nikos Christodoulides in the field of digital services for citizens.

During his briefing to the media at the Presidential Palace on 12 September, Letymbiotis said, “the Government is implementing a comprehensive digital transformation strategy that makes citizens' contact with the state simpler, faster and more reliable”.

"The substantial enhancement of digital services for citizens is progressing steadily, offering modern, practical and reliable tools that simplify everyday life and reduce inconvenience. The aim is for every citizen to be able to obtain information and services directly and efficiently, without delays or queues," he added.

He also noted that citizens' response is clearly recorded in usage data, adding that the gov.cy government portal records over 500,000 visits per month, while together with visits to the linked websites of Ministries and Deputy Ministries, the number exceeds 900,000, adding that the portal brings together all public services in one central location, provides information on the work of the Government, and is gradually redesigning all government websites to modern standards.

He added that the Digital Assistant, the first application of generative artificial intelligence in the public sector, has answered more than 163,000 questions in 8 months, with a constantly expanding range of topics including social security, consular services, tax and social benefits, noting that the tax topic, which was added recently, already accounts for almost twice as many questions as the rest, while the use of the Digital Assistant is increasing daily, with more than 700 questions per day.

He also said that the Digital Citizen application already has 112,000 registered users, with more than 80,000 Sports Fan Cards having been issued digitally, with a significant increase in new users recorded in recent months, while very soon the app will also offer the option of adding tickets for sporting events.

In closing, he reminded that since May, interoperability with the Greek app Gov Gr Wallet has also been activated, allowing mutual recognition of documents in Cyprus and Greece.
