For the period January – June 2025, the Industrial Production Index recorded an increase of 3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to Cystat.
Comparing the rates of change for the period January – June 2025 against the corresponding period of the previous year, the most significant positive changes were observed in the manufacturing of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (12.7%), water collection, treatment and supply (9.6%), the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products (9%), mining and quarrying (8.2%) and wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture (7.8%).
The activities in which negative changes in production were registered compared to the period January – June 2024 were those relating to the manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing (-13.5%), the manufacturing of textiles, wearing apparel and leather products (-4%), the manufacturing of refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products and pharmaceutical products and preparations (- 1.3%), the electricity supply (-1.3%) and the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment (-1%).
In June 2025, the Industrial Production Index reached 115.9 units (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 0.8% compared to June 2024.
The manufacturing sector registered an increase of 4% compared to June 2024. An increase was also observed in the sectors of mining and quarrying (9.6%) and water supply and materials recovery (6.4%). A negative change was observed in the electricity supply sector (-18.2%).
In the manufacturing sector, the most significant positive changes compared to June 2024 were observed in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products (12.9%), rubber and plastic products (10.5%), electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (8.7%) and wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture (8.3%).
The most important negative changes were observed in the manufacturing of textiles, wearing apparel and leather products (-9.4%) and paper and paper products and printing (-9.4%).
