Sklavenitis Cyprus honoured with Invest Cyprus International Investment Award

Sklavenitis Cyprus has been recognised for its contribution to local economy with Invest Cyprus International Investment Award.

The award was delivered to Dimitris Galanis, Chairman of the Board of Sklavenitis Cyprus. It was presented to him by the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou and Group Legal and Compliance Officer at Lanitis Group, Joanna Lanitis.

Sklavenitis Cyprus is a subsidiary of the largest Greek supermarket chain, Hellenic Hypermarkets Sklavenitis S.A., which entered the Cypriot retail market in 2017. Today, Sklavenitis Cyprus operates 27 stores across the island, employing 2,500 people and serving over 40,000 customers daily. In Greece, Hellenic Hypermarkets Sklavenitis operates 459 stores, along with four eMarket Order Distribution Centres and eight Distribution Centres. The company, which serves an average of 638,000 customers daily, employs 34,500 people, and collaborates with more than 3,000 suppliers, both domestic and international. The history of Sklavenitis began in 1954 in Athens, when brothers Spyros and Giannis Sklavenitis and their friend Miltiadis Papadopoulos, founded a business focused on wholesale food supply to grocers and the packaging and distribution of spices in blister packs. Ιn 1971, they opened the company’s first supermarket in Peristeri, Attica. Since then, the company has grown steadily, remaining true to the principles and values set out by its founders: to offer products of excellent quality at low prices and provide polite and efficient service, thereby contributing meaningfully to the progress of society. In Cyprus, Sklavenitis remains committed to its customers and dedicated to the company’s founding principles and values, supporting the local economy and society by providing employment opportunities.

The 13th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards pay tribute to major international investors for their contribution to Cyprus and its economy.

The 13th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards are presented by PwC Cyprus, with the generous support of Elite Sponsor Eurobank, Strategic Partner Cyta Business, and Gold Sponsors Ecommbx and Lanitis Group.

Hosted by GOLD magazine and organised by Invest Cyprus, the official body the government has entrusted with the task of attracting foreign investment to Cyprus, the event is taking place under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
