Makis Keravnos to chair Eurogroup in Brussels, during which new President will be elected

Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, will Monday, 7 July chair the Eurogroup meeting which, among other things, will elect its new President.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Finance said that the Eurogroup will discuss Eurozone's coordination of fiscal policies and will endorse Eurozone's 2026 fiscal policy statement.
The meeting will conclude with the election process of the new President of the Eurogroup for the next 2.5 years.
In a broader format, with the participation of the Finance Ministers of all EU member states, the Eurogroup will exchange views on the main policy aspects of the Digital Euro legislative package. Later on, the President of the European Investment Bank will present the Bank's initiatives in relation to the deepening of the Capital Markets Union.
On Tuesday, Keravnos will participate in ECOFIN, which will examine the progress on regulations for the Digital Euro.
Also, Ministers will exchange views on the European Commission's legislative proposal to revise the securitization framework in the context of advancing work on the Savings and Investment Union.
ECOFIN will also be briefed on the programme of the Danish Presidency of the EU, as well as the progress of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, it is noted.
On Monday evening, the Minister will participate in an informal working dinner, organised by the Danish Minister of Finance. Those attending the dinner are expected to exchange views on how to handle the increased defence expenses, as well as about ways to continue financial support to Ukraine.
