07:00 - 29 July 2025

Cristina Jimenez, Eco Coordinator at PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia, has been named the recipient of the prestigious Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) Teacher Award for 2025.
Selected from over 50 candidates worldwide, Jimenez received the award on 3 June in recognition of her outstanding leadership and commitment to environmental education. During the ceremony, she presented the impressive sustainability work being carried out at PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia, driven by the passion and dedication of pupils under her guidance.
While the award celebrates her personal achievements, Jimenez was quick to acknowledge the collective spirit of the school: “This award is recognition of the enthusiasm and creativity that I try to share with my pupils so they can become active citizens and solve problems around them. It fuels my passion to keep providing education for sustainable development,” she shared.
Her ongoing mission is to empower the school community through a strong sustainability framework, equipping young people with the tools they need to become thoughtful and environmentally conscious global citizens — values that align strongly with Globeducate’s own commitment to shaping the future.

There could have been no better moment for this recognition than during the week of World Environment Day — a celebration of the progress being made across our network of schools towards a greener, more sustainable future.
Marios Hadjivasiliou, Head Teacher of PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia, said: “Cristina has been instrumental in driving forward our environmental initiatives, particularly through the reBLUE project and Eco-Schools programme. Her ability to generate creative solutions to sustainability challenges has been nothing short of inspiring. Whether it’s developing new strategies to reduce waste, implementing engaging classroom projects, or organising school-wide campaigns, Cristina approaches each task with an infectious enthusiasm that motivates everyone around her. Her innovative ideas, with her always leading by example, have captivated students and ignited a genuine passion for sustainability in them. Cristina’s dedication never wavers. It’s clear to everyone who works with her that she has an unwavering commitment to fostering a better, more sustainable future for her students and the community.”
Pupils at the school have shared heartfelt reflections on what it means to work alongside Ms Jimenez on a range of impactful environmental projects:
“I'm happy to have a teacher like you who is so dedicated and committed to her work, and that passes on this passion to her students. By joining the reBLUE team I had the opportunity to engage in environmentally friendly activities and seek to enhance my knowledge of our environment.” – BG (5IB)
“Ms Jimenez really helped us with our project reBLUE — without her it would have been impossible. She is one of the best teachers I've had all these years, and I really appreciate everything she does.” – MS (Y3)
“We have put so much effort into the sustainability of our school community. It has taken us on many journeys and still continues to do so. Thus, we are very proud to have been honoured with such an incredible award.” – VH (Y5)
“I am very proud that our school participated in environmental protection programmes. With the valuable help and guidance of our teachers, we carried out various environmental activities. This award is very important to us and gives us the motivation to continue.”
Globeducate warmly congratulated Jimenez, her colleagues, and all the pupils at PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia for their inspiring work — "a shining example of what it means to be part of a Globeducate school".
