Shipping’s future in focus at “Maritime Cyprus 2025”

The Republic of Cyprus is gearing up to host one of the most influential maritime gatherings in the world, the “Maritime Cyprus 2025” conference, taking place from 6 to 8 October at the Parklane Resort & Spa in Limassol.

Established in 1989 and held biennially, Maritime Cyprus has grown into a leading global forum for maritime dialogue, bringing together senior stakeholders from across the international shipping industry. The event is organised by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus, in collaboration with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the Cyprus Union of Shipowners.

Theme: “Unlocking the Future... of Shipping”

This year’s conference will centre around the theme “Unlocking the Future... of Shipping”, tackling the most pressing issues facing the sector. From compliance with evolving international regulations and the drive toward sustainability, to digital transformation, seafarers’ welfare, and financial strategies in the global shipping market—the agenda promises an in-depth exploration of the forces shaping the future of maritime trade.

A distinguished line-up of speakers will present and debate the industry’s latest developments, offering insights aimed at unlocking new opportunities and solutions for an increasingly complex global environment.

High-calibre participation

More than 1,000 delegates are expected to attend, including top-tier figures such as the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), European Commissioners, presidents of maritime organisations, shipowners, and executives from leading shipping companies.

The conference will be officially opened on the morning of Monday, October 6, by H.E. President Nikos Christodoulides of the Republic of Cyprus. The opening ceremony will also feature the presentation of the “Cyprus Shipping Award 2025”, a highlight of the event celebrating excellence and contribution to the industry.

Showcasing Cyprus’ maritime heritage

Beyond the formal proceedings, Maritime Cyprus 2025 offers delegates the opportunity to engage with Cyprus’ rich maritime heritage and strategic maritime infrastructure, which serves as a key advantage for both European and global shipping interests.

In a continued effort to evolve the conference, the organisers are introducing innovative elements and initiatives in this year’s edition. Notably, a welcome reception will be hosted by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping on the evening of the opening day, 6 October, at the Parklane Resort & Spa. The event, held in honour of the speakers, delegates, sponsors, and the broader maritime community, will provide a prime occasion for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

Spotlight on young professionals

On 7 October, the second day of the conference, a dedicated afternoon seminar will take place, targeting young professionals entering the maritime industry. This forum will highlight the role of innovation, technology, opportunity creation, and creative thinking, positioning the new generation as key contributors to a resilient, sustainable, and forward-looking shipping sector.
