Copper Island, an international production company with a strong presence in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia, has chosen Limassol as its new operational headquarters, in a strategic decision that will offer the global film industry a new hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
With a broad network of international partners, producers, and distributors, Copper Island has established a robust and multifaceted profile by participating in high-calibre productions with global reach. To date, the company has made significant investments in international projects, with total production budgets exceeding $100 million. Among its collaborators are acclaimed directors such as Ron Howard, Gus Van Sant, and Simon West, along with world-renowned actors including Sir Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino, Bill Skarsgård, Mathew Goode, Ana de Armas, Jude Law, Sydney Sweeney, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, Shia LaBeouf, and Colman Domingo.

“Our decision to establish the company in Cyprus is the result of careful study and long-term planning"
Copper Island’s decision to base its operations in Cyprus was not incidental; its founder has been investing in Cyprus for a number of years and saw the enormous potential of the country and its resources to make international films. As David Mansfield, Director of Operations at Copper Island, explains: “This is not merely an expansion of our operations – it is a strategic positioning in a location with enormous potential. Cyprus, with its prime geographic location, modern infrastructure, and vibrant, ever-evolving creative community, provides the ideal conditions for the development of a new hub for high-quality film production. We believe deeply in the talents found here. Our goal is to collaborate with them, and actively contribute to the emergence of a new generation of creative professionals.”

The company’s name, inspired by copper - the metal historically and culturally linked to Cyprus - symbolises the deep connection Copper Island has developed with the country it now calls home, recognising it as the ideal location for the next phase of its creative journey.
New post-production studio is already in operation
Located in the heart of Limassol’s historic centre, Copper Island’s new post-production studio is already in operation. It is the first fully integrated facility of this calibre in the country, designed to meet the most demanding international standards and equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The cutting-edge studio offers high-end services ranging from editing and colour grading to sound production, Dolby 7.1 mixing, digital archiving, and data management. Beyond its technical sophistication, Copper Island delivers full-service production capabilities across all stages of filmmaking - from project development and pre-production to financing and final delivery.
The company’s presence in Cyprus extends well beyond infrastructure. Copper Island aims to act as a bridge between the local creative sector and the global film industry, fostering new partnerships, strengthening professional training, creating opportunities for advancement, and supporting projects with international potential.

Undoubtedly, the arrival of Copper Island in Cyprus adds substantial value to the country's economy, culture, and international visibility. It is not merely a new business presence, but a long-term investment that bolsters Cyprus’ position within the contemporary global film landscape, laying strong foundations for the advancement of national film activity and the emergence of Cyprus as a point of reference in international creative production.
