Ecliptic Defence and Space presents first ever fully integrated counter-drone defence system made in Cyprus

The first fully integrated and state-of-the-art counter-drone defence system ever developed in Cyprus was unveiled at the DEFEA exhibition in Athens by the Cypriot company Ecliptic Defence and Space last week.

The ANTIGONI C-UAS (High Power Microwave) system is an advanced, fully indigenous defence solution designed to neutralise unmanned aerial systems (UAS), including single drones, drone swarms, and kamikaze drones. Its mission is to provide high-level protection against modern aerial threats.

“We are deeply proud and moved that, after years of hard work and dedication, we have developed a state-of-the-art defence system with our own resources,” said Maria Konstantinou, Director of Business Development, Ecliptic Defence and Space. “A system that can provide Cyprus with substantial deterrence advantages and serve as a true force multiplier for the National Guard in confronting any aerial threat.”

She added, “We are building technological foundations, and we expect the next generation of engineers to continue this effort and achieve even greater milestones for our country.”

Specifically, the ANTIGONI C-UAS system emits high-power electromagnetic energy that disrupts and destroys the control and communication circuits of hostile or unauthorised drones. The system is supported by innovative technologies that enable early detection, tracking, identification, and neutralisation of threats.

At the operational level, the ANTIGONI system provides several competitive advantages:

  • Silent, immediate, and effective neutralisation of armed drones and drone swarms — multiple targets can be eliminated with a single shot.
  • The capability to disable enemy radar and communications networks, disrupting their ability to coordinate attacks.
  • Effective interference with the operation of autonomous unmanned ground and naval vehicles, including maritime drones.

Unlike conventional defence systems, ANTIGONI requires no ammunition and produces no visible attack trace, significantly reducing the risk of revealing its position. Additionally, it can deliver scalable effects based on user needs, including long-range electronic strikes.

Even at this early stage of development, the system can neutralise drones up to 25 km away and is effective against Class I, II, and III UAVs. Due to its compact size, it can be deployed on land, naval, or aerial platforms, providing critical protection to human lives, infrastructure, and strategic military assets.

To support the ANTIGONI C-UAS system, Ecliptic Defence and Space developed the Sovereign Eye 3D Radar, a cutting-edge radar system offering full three-dimensional tracking (range, azimuth, elevation), outperforming existing 2D systems. It accurately detects low-flying and small targets, even in cluttered or noisy environments, crucial for air and naval threat response.

The company also developed the Signal Chaser 3D Direction Finding System, a passive RF direction-finding platform. It detects the source and direction of radiofrequency emissions in 3D, including altitude, without emitting signals itself, enhancing stealth. It detects RF sources from drones, communication devices or jammers, providing accurate geolocation even in interference-heavy or obstructed environments.

To further boost ANTIGONI’s operational effectiveness, Ecliptic in collaboration with Cypriot company ADDITESS, integrated the CeMiS Central Monitoring Software, an advanced command-and-control platform that unifies multiple sensors (RGB, LWIR/SWIR hyperspectral cameras, acoustic sensors and radars). Combined with AI and predictive algorithms, it offers real-time situational awareness, enabling rapid decision-making and C-UAS coordination across military units, vehicles, ships and aircraft.

In addition, Ecliptic partnered with Czech company EVPÚ Defence to integrate the CRANE-XLR targeting system, providing high-resolution day/night optical tracking and laser-based range finding for visual threat detection and precision targeting.

In conclusion, this multi-layered integration of advanced systems transforms ANTIGONI C-UAS into a true Force Multiplier, a comprehensive, modern and effective counter-UAS platform. Its unified sensor architecture allows rapid threat detection, real-time geolocation of both drones and their operators, visual identification of multiple aerial threats and targeted neutralization. Inter-system synchronization ensures continuous operational awareness, decision superiority and resilience in high-interference or complex terrain. The system redefines how modern armed forces defend airspace.

However, a defence system of this calibre, which functions as an electronic countermeasure, must also be capable of self-protection, deception and disorientation against threats targeting it during operational engagement.

To that end, Ecliptic engineers will soon implement additional upgrades to include active protection and disorientation systems and the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to enhance autonomy, performance and adaptability.

“We will relentlessly continue to strengthen the ANTIGONI C-UAS system so that the National Guard, European armed forces and allied nations can effectively counter evolving aerial threats in all operational environments, while strengthening Cyprus’ deterrent capabilities,” stated Dr Andreas Papanastasiou, CEO & Technical Director, Ecliptic Defence and Space.
