CIM – Cyprus Business School has designed programmes for lawyers that will make participants stand out from the rest and provide them with guarantees for a brilliant career, according to the academic institution's CEO institution, Yangos Hadjiyannis, who, speaking about the new collaboration with the Cyprus Bar Association, states that "our aim will be to listen to the needs of lawyers and adapt the programmes offered so as to provide the maximum possible value."
"We are in discussions with other professional sectors and there is strong interest in them collaborating with us," Hadjiyannis further points out.
How did the collaboration between CIM-Cyprus Business School and the Cyprus Bar Association come about and what is the key market need that led you to create specialised training programmes for lawyers?
As the leading Cypriot business school, in addition to the academic programmes we have been offering with great success for the last 48 years, we are actively involved in the field of the training and education of executives with the aim of upgrading their qualifications. In the context of the continuous upgrading of the services offered, we have entered into cooperation with the Cyprus Bar Association by signing a relevant Memorandum, which includes, among other things, the creation of specialised training programmes for lawyers.
We have recently received approval from the Cyprus Bar Association as a Training Centre and, as such, our training programmes will be accepted for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). As is known, lawyers are required to complete 12 units of certified training per year, therefore, our programmes will develop the skills of lawyers while covering their obligations.
What programmes have you designed?
To begin with, after a thorough study of the market and consultation with a multitude of lawyers, we have designed six programmes that are highly topical and innovative. Our programmes will be offered remotely and their duration will be four hours. Specifically, in the first half of 2026, the following programmes will be offered by distinguished instructors:
- Loan Restructuring Negotiations (NPV & Restructured Statements), Dr. Elena Constantinou
- Dialogue with Results: Professional Communication in the Legal Environment, Annita Petrou
- AI Literacy for Lawyers (ChatGPT and Gemini), Dr. Demetris Kyriacou
- The Art of Decision Making: Insights from Behavioral Economics for Lawyers, Dr. Christiana Charalambidou
- Personal Branding for Lawyers: Building Credibility, Visibility & Trust in a Competitive Environment, Dr. Myria Kkali
- Adaptability in Management: Adaptive Manager, Dinos Ioannides
How important do you consider continuing education for legal professionals today and how have the programmes been designed to meet the modern challenges facing lawyers?
Our goal will be to listen to the needs of lawyers and adapt the programmes offered so as to provide the maximum possible value.
At this stage, we focused precisely on skills beyond the purely legal subject, so as to broaden the lawyers’ horizons and highlight skills that may not have previously been among their priorities. We firmly believe that lawyers, in order to excel, should differentiate themselves through the development of comprehensive skills.
Since it is the obligation of lawyers to undergo annual training, we have designed programmes that will differentiate participants and provide them with the guarantees for a brilliant career.
How do these specific programmes fit into CIM's overall strategy for professional training and skills development?
We, at CIM-Cyprus Business School, have a clear strategy regarding the development of our activities and services provided for the upgrading of the skills of professionals. Being the pre-eminent academic institution serving the needs of professionals, through the Executive Training & Consulting Department, we offer a multitude of quality services, such as specialised single-company programmes, consulting services, and the University of Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education programmes. Thus, this collaboration with the Cyprus Bar Association is part of our strategy for further upgrading.
Are there any thoughts on expanding or creating new specialised programmes for other professional sectors in the future?
Of course. We are in discussions with other professional sectors and there is a strong interest in collaborating with us, knowing the value we can add and the know-how we can transfer to very different sectors. However, we always remain focused on quality rather than quantity and therefore our actions are considered and very careful.
