The volume of retail trade in Cyprus decreased by 1.0% in June 2026 compared with May, according to data published by Eurostat on Thursday.
On an annual basis, compared with June 2025, the volume of retail trade in Cyprus increased by 5.0%.
According to Eurostat, the monthly decrease in Cyprus came as the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade fell by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.1% in the EU. In May 2026, the volume of retail trade had increased by 0.4% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU.
In Cyprus, the monthly changes in the volume of retail trade were a decrease of 1.2% in January, an increase of 0.7% in February, an increase of 0.6% in March, a decrease of 0.9% in April, an increase of 3.7% in May and a decrease of 1.0% in June.
On an annual basis, the volume of retail trade in Cyprus increased by 8.9% in January, 5.0% in February, 6.1% in March, 2.7% in April, 8.4% in May and 5.0% in June.
At EU level, the calendar-adjusted retail sales index increased by 1.2% in June 2026 compared with June 2025, while the annual increase in the euro area stood at 0.7%.
