Makis Keravnos on what sectors in Cyprus may be impacted by the US tariffs

Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos has described the ongoing global trade war as very worrying, and spoke of great uncertainty while also announcing that a meeting will be held at the Ministry to discuss a relevant special report that has been prepared.

Speaking on state radio, the Minister of Finance stated that "developments with US tariff policy are creating great uncertainty, as the rules of international trade are being undermined."

At the same time, he pointed out that "Cyprus' economic and trade relations with the United States are limited, however, there will be significant impacts on the European Union economy, which will also affect Cyprus, mainly in the tourism and services sectors."

Makis Keravnos assured, however, that the government is evaluating all developments and acting proactively and promptly.

As he pointed out, "in this context, a special report has been prepared, which will be discussed today (Friday, 4 April) at an ad hoc meeting at the Ministry of Finance," going on to underline that "neither panic nor complacency should prevail."
