President meets Citi official to discuss the institution's stronger presence in Cyprus

President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, has met with Jason Rekate, Head of Corporate Banking of Citi financial institution in New York, and had an extensive discussion on the services that it offers globally and the prospects of further and more multifaceted presence of its activities in Cyprus, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis has said.

In a post on "X", Letymbiotis noted that Citi is one of the largest financial institutions globally and "in this context, there was an extensive reference to the services provided by @Citi as well as the prospects of further and more multifaceted presence of its activities in Cyprus".

During the discussion, he added, "the government's firm commitment to maintaining a strong and reliable banking system, active compliance with international standards of transparency and sanctions, as well as the clear political will to attract strategic partners who will contribute to the further economic development of the Republic of Cyprus was emphasised, at a time when the steadily upward trajectory of the Cypriot economy outlines those prospects for attracting quality investments."
