Retail trade turnover up in February

The retail trade turnover in Cyprus recorded a notable increase in February 2025, according to data released by CySTAT.

Specifically, the Retail Trade Turnover Value Index for February 2025 rose by 5.6% compared to February 2024, while the Retail Trade Volume Index increased by 4.7% in the same month.

The highest increases were observed in the category of educational and recreational items, including books, stationery, sports equipment, and games. The value of this category grew by 18.2%, with the volume increasing by 17.8%. The information and communication systems equipment sector followed, with a 4.8% rise in value and an 11.7% increase in volume. Clothing and footwear also saw significant growth, with value rising by 4.0% and volume by 9.6%.

On the other hand, the largest decreases were recorded in retail trade outside of stores, with the value declining by 2.4% and the volume falling by 1.3%.

According to the data, from January to February 2025, the Value Index increased by 5.2%, while the Volume Index rose by 3.7%, indicating a steady growth trajectory in the retail sector, excluding motor vehicles.
