CBC: Net increase of €42.7m in loans and €498.3m in deposits in February

Total loans in February 2025 recorded a net increase of €42.7 million, compared with a net decrease of €45.6 million in January 2025, according to data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus, included in the March 2025 edition of its Monetary and Financial Statistics report.

The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 1.9%, compared with 3.2% in January 2025. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €25.4 billion in February 2025.

According to the data, loans to Cyprus residents exhibited a decrease of €4.9 million. More analytically, loans to households and non-financial corporations decreased by €8.8 million and €38.3 million, respectively. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors exhibited a total increase of €42.2 million.

Net deposits up almost half a billion

Total deposits in February 2025 recorded a net increase of €498.3 million, compared with a net decrease of €211.3 million in January 2025. The above increase includes deposits arisen from receipts of Hellenic Bank shareholders, from the sale of their shares to Eurobank S.A.

The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 7.7%, compared with 6.9% in January 2025. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €56.2 billion in February 2025.

Deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €535.9 million. More analytically, households' deposits increased by €237.6 million, while deposits of non-financial corporations recorded a decrease of €186.2 million. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors exhibited a total increase of €484.5 million.
