Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center upgrade underway in preparation for Eurobasket (pics)

Works to upgrade the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center in Limassol, which will host the FIBA ​​EuroBasket 2025 matches in the summer, are progressing at an intensive pace.

On Friday, 7 March, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, the Director of the Public Works Department, Lefteris Eleftheriou, accompanied by Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF) President Andreas Mouzourides, visited the stadium to be informed in detail about the progress of the work by the contractor and the project engineers.

The project's chief consulting engineer informed the attendees that the work is 60% complete, while the timelines are being strictly adhered to, ensuring that the stadium will be ready to welcome top European athletes in August 2025.

During the visit, all those involved expressed their satisfaction with the progress that has been made and the positive cooperation between all stakeholders.

There was a shared commitment to ensuring the necessary conditions for the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center to become a stadium worthy of the requirements of EuroBasket 2025, both in terms of sports infrastructure and in terms of hosting spectators and visitors.

Mouzourides stated, "We are very pleased with the progress of the work and the project remains on schedule. We are also grateful for the excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Public Works Department, the leaders of which have dedicated countless hours to ensure that the project is delivered as it should be.
