Maria Leontiou: “We are living in a period where we are experiencing something like the smartphone era”

The advent of ChatGPT democratised Artificial Intelligence (AI) and brought it to light, according to Maria Leontiou, Head of Eurobank Next – Digital Growth & Future Competitiveness, who says that AI “is actually a platform shift”.

Speaking to CBN at the Cyprus Fintech Summit in December, she elaborated: “We are living in a period where we are experiencing something like the smartphone era. When smartphones came everything changed. We are looking at something revolutionary and very big.”

Leontiou, who believes Cyprus has a very vibrant startup ecosystem which it should take full advantage of, added that generative AI is at its peak right now.
