The brands that led the Cypriot car market in 2024

2024 ended on a positive note for the car market, with the total number of registered vehicles reaching 49,616 compared to 45,494 in 2023, recording an increase of 9.1%, while registrations of passenger saloon cars increased by 4.9% and reached 38,410 in 2024 compared to 36,608 in 2023.

However, in the last month of 2024, saloon registrations fell by 16.9% to 2,050 from 2,468 in December 2023.

Registrations of hybrid saloon cars remain on an upward trend, their share increasing to 37.1% in 2024 from 29.6% in 2024, while electric vehicles also recorded a small increase, occupying 4% of the market in 2024 compared to 2.7% in 2023.

Total passenger car market

Total registrations of saloon passenger cars in 2024 amounted to 38,410, of which 34,254 were private vehicles.

Toyota remains at the top of the overall saloon car market, with 6,920 registrations. It is followed by Mazda (4,522), Nissan (3,515) and Kia.

(2,398), while the top five of passenger saloon car registrations is completed by Mercedes (2,290).

Also on the relevant list are brands such as BMW (2,061), Volkswagen (1,801), Hyundai (1,375) and Honda (1,084), with the top ten being completed by Audi's registrations (925).

New saloon passenger cars

Almost four out of ten passenger saloon car registrations in 2024 were new cars (15,061 or 39.2%, of which 13,683 were private).

Kia is in first place, with 2,273 registrations, followed by Toyota with 1,446. Volkswagen is in third place (1,430), Nissan is in fourth (1,412), while Hyundai (1,265) is in the top five.

Also included in the list of last year's saloon car registrations are brands such as BMW (706), Mercedes (641), Audi (572), Jeep (394) and Renault (342).

Used saloon passenger cars

Of the total number of saloon passenger cars registered in 2024, 23,349 or 60.8% were used cars, including 20,571 private ones.

Toyota holds the lead, with 5,474 registrations, while Mazda is slightly below, with 4,387 registrations. Nissan (2,103), Mercedes (1,649) and BMW (1,355) follow.

The list also includes popular brands on the market, including Honda (943), Land Rover (582), Suzuki (488), Volkswagen (371) and Audi (353).
