Euripides Loizides: Paphos will become a year-round tourist destination in the coming years

The belief that Paphos has the scope for winter tourism and may well turn into a year-round destination has been expressed by Euripides Loizides, President of the Paphos Hotel Association.

In an interview in the August edition of the Cyprus Hotels Association’s monthly electronic edition of "Xenodochos", and asked about the occupancy rates in the hotels of the Paphos district, Loizides said that "they are at very good levels and vary depending on the hotels."

Regarding the indications of how the next months will develop, the president of the Paphos Hoteliers Association stated that, "pre-bookings, compared to last year, are at very good levels, but we expect many more bookings during this current period, depending of course on how the situation in the region will be shaped."

"We are monitoring the developments in the region because they affect us to a significant extent," he pointed out.

In relation to the winter season, after noting that "during the winter season several hotels remain open," he pointed out that "at the moment an effort is underway with the relevant ministries to provide some incentives with the aim of increasing the number of hotels that remain open during the winter months, not only in Paphos, but throughout Cyprus."

"Paphos has the scope for winter tourism and it may well turn into a year-round destination," he stressed, underlining that "this is something I believe we will start to see happen gradually in the coming years."
