President and CBC Governor discuss Cypriot economy, interest rates

Issues related to the financial sector, among which the course of interest rates, as well as the Cypriot economy, were discussed during a meeting between President Nikos Christodoulides and the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), Christodoulos Patsalides.

The meeting took place on the afternoon of 17 September at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia, CNA has learned.

The meeting, which lasted about an hour, was also attended by the Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, and the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic, Charalambos Charalambous.

CNA also learned that the Governor of the Central Bank informed the President of the Republic about European economic developments. In addition, issues of the wider financial sector were raised during the meeting, such as, among others, the course of interest rates, banks, the Cypriot economy, as well as other priorities set by the Central Bank of Cyprus.
