Nicosia awarded 2023 local European Mobility Week Prize

The Municipality of Nicosia has been awarded the local European Mobility Week Award for 2023 along with a cash prize of €2,000, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades announced during an event in Nicosia.

The campaign for the local European mobility week has been run by the Ministry since 2019 with the aim of encouraging and supporting the local authorities to join forces for sustainable urban mobility.

Mobility Week takes place annually between 16 -22 September.

The 2023 theme for the campaign was 'Save Energy' and aimed to raise awareness among citizens about the daily choices they make for their commute.

At European level, Nicosia municipality was the only one to join the campaign and ranked in 5th place.

The 2024 European Mobility Week campaign calls on citizens to reflect on the existing uses of public space in the cities.
