Nikiforos Pampakas: They said “What are they going to do with this place?” – 17 years later we are sitting here with the project finished

Limassol marina is celebrating its 10th anniversary and to mark the occasion, General Manager Nikiforos Pampakas was asked what his most memorable moment has been. And he said that when experts from abroad came to the island to plan the project, they doubted it could ever get off the ground.

In a video posted on Limassol Marina’s LinkedIn page, Pampakas is asked:

What is one memorable moment that stands out to you from your time at Limassol Marina?

“There are number of moments which I cannot cut down to one,” he says. “But I would say the very first beginning, when everything started, when we had people from abroad coming here to do the planning and for marketing and for the development of the project, and they were amused and I could hear them in the background saying: “What are they going to do with this place?” Nobody could believe this. So, 17 years afterwards we are sitting here with the project finished. So that moment is the moment that stands out, I would say.”

10 Years on the Sea

Limassol Marina is celebrating its 10th anniversary, “marking a decade of exceptional success, powerful commercial growth, and a distinct lifestyle and experience on the sea, in the heart of a vivid international city”.

On its website, it adds, “This outstanding 10-year strong achievement has been made possible by thousands of weekly visitors, residents, tenants, guests, and crews, all of whom have played a vital part in creating a vibrant and thriving marina since its opening to the public back in 2014. It is also a remarkable reflection of how living, yachting, wellness, and vitality on the sea can bring people together through meaningful multi-cultural connections between the marina environment, its community, and the world around us”.

Limassol Marina has invited everyone to participate in its 10-year celebrations through a series of promotions and exclusive discounts across its commercial area, as well as with special celebratory events, specifically designed to commemorate its decade-long journey and to thank the entire marina community for their contributions along the way.
