Dmitriy Punin: The Russian businessman who plans to turn Cyprus into a culinary destination

Dmitriy Punin, the Russian founder of Punin Group who arrived in Limassol back in 2019, has big plans for Cyprus, a top priority being to turn the island into a key culinary destination.

The businessman hosted a press gathering in Nicosia, where he presented his vision for the island, which he says he now considers his home.

Punin has been very active in Cyprus in recent years, operating in a number of market segments – including but not limited to Software, HORECA, Health & Beauty, Entertainment and Consulting – with an emphasis on gastronomy and wine-making.

Passionate about fine wine, Punin created the Punin Wine label, while opening Le Petit Marché, a French cava and delicatessen, unique in Limassol, selling exclusive import French wines, chocolates, cheese, caviar, smoked salmon organic, and truffles among other things.

He revealed during the gathering that one of his Group’s immediate priorities is to highlight Cyprus as a key culinary destination and place it on the international culinary map. Its French restaurant Le Frenchie and TOY Confectionery by Punin in Limassol are a part of this effort.

As for his broader business activities, Punin Group has mixed-use spaces, largescale smart city construction projects, concert venues, spaces for functions, offices and retail stores under its umbrella.

Another key priority, mentioned at the gathering, is to create opportunities to promote local talent and build strong ties with the Cypriot community.

Dmitriy Punin said: “I’m very grateful to share my vision. From the foundation of our company Punin Group, our main mission has been to enhance the quality of life for the residents, as well as the quality of service in the segments that we are involved in. I’m very grateful for Cyprus. From 2019 I count Cyprus as my home. I’m very grateful for the residents for having us here and we will continue to enhance and invest in making Cyprus better.”
