Tourism revenue up 5.5% in first four months of 2024

Tourism revenue for the first four months of 2024 saw a notable increase of 5.5% compared to the same period in 2023, while April's revenue remained stable.

According to the results of the Passengers Survey conducted by CySTAT, tourism revenue in April 2024 amounted to €217.4 million, showing a slight decrease of 0.1% compared to April 2023 (€217.6 million).

For the period from January to April 2024, tourism revenue is estimated at €440.7 million, compared to €417.6 million for the corresponding period in 2023, marking a 5.5% increase.

Increase in per capita expenditure in April

The average expenditure per tourist in April 2024 increased by 2.6% to €651.69 compared to €634.89 in April 2023. British tourists, who constituted the largest tourist market with 35.3% of the total tourists in April 2024, spent an average of €81.21 per day. Israeli tourists, the second largest market with 10.7% of the total, spent an average of €140.03 per day. Polish tourists, who were the third largest market with 7.6%, spent an average of €80.67 per day.

The highest daily per capita expenditure for April 2024 was recorded by tourists from Switzerland at €144.35, followed by Belgium at €141.70 and Israel at €140.03. The lowest daily per capita expenditure was noted among tourists from Greece at €43.28, Italy at €74.11, and Sweden at €76.93.
