President of Montenegro begins official visit to Cyprus

President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović is beginning an official visit to Cyprus, the first ever of a President of Montenegro to the country.

According to a written statement by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, President Milatovic, who will be accompanied by the First Lady, will arrive in Cyprus on the morning of 6 June. Shortly afterwards he will be officially welcomed by President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides with whom he will hold a tete-a-tete meeting followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Discussions will focus on bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, regional and international developments, as well as Montenegro's EU accession process. The two Presidents will make statements to the press and then they will have an official lunch hosted by the President of the Republic and the first lady of Cyprus Philippa Karsera Christodoulides.

In the afternoon, the President of Montenegro will have a meeting with the President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou and then he will visit the Nicosia City Hall, where he will have a meeting with the Mayor and a tour of the old town along the demarcation line.

In the evening, the President of Montenegro will attend a dinner hosted in his honor by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On 7 June, he will have a meeting with the Archbishop of Cyprus and then he visit the town of Limassol and the village of Omodos.

The President of Montenegro and his entourage will depart on 8 June.
