EuroBasket 2025: The huge benefits for the event's sponsors

Companies will have the opportunity to highlight their brand and associate their name with the largest team-level sports event ever hosted on the island when Cyprus hosts EuroBasket 2025.

The third group matches will take place at the Spyros Kyprianou Stadium in Limassol.

With the event's organising committee already working to attract sponsors, InBusinessNews sources indicate a strong interest from companies wanting to participate as sponsoring partners, as this is a presence from which they will reap extremely high benefits in terms of the promotion and strengthening of the reputation of their brand, not only within Cyprus, but also abroad.

More specifically, the total of eight companies that will be in the group of sponsors will have a huge exposure, as beyond the local market, the matches will be broadcast live to millions of fans around the world, and also have corresponding millions of views via the internet.

At the same time, alongside the branding opportunities, various social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability (ESG) programs will be run, which are of particular interest to large companies, especially in recent years.

As far as the sponsor attraction plan is concerned, this includes two categories (tiers) of sponsors.

Tier 1 (main event sponsors) with four sponsor positions and tier 2 (event sponsors) with another four sponsor positions, i.e. a total of eight positions, while there will also be two institutional sponsors, usually in each country the Ministry of Tourism (in the case of Cyprus the Deputy Ministry of Tourism) and the Municipality hosting the event (in this case Limassol).

According to the same InBusinessNews sources, the organising committee has already proceeded with commercial agreements for two of the eight available positions in the sponsorship team, which are expected to be announced soon.

At the same time, discussions are continuing with other companies, with the estimate being that by the end of 2024, all but two sponsor positions will have been finalised.

These two remaining positions will be put on the market after the draw that will take place in March 2025 and through which, based on the FIBA world ranking, the remaining four national teams will emerge, which together with Cyprus and Greece will form the third group of the event.

It is worth noting that every company that enters into a contract with EuroBasket 2025 gains exclusivity in its category. This means that there cannot be, for example, two banks as sponsors in the Cyprus group.

What usually happens, taking into account previous events, is that the biggest company in its field tends to "lock" its place in the sponsor pool early.

Thus, making history together with the organisers, it gives, through the partner programme, both its staff and customers, the unique opportunity to attend and experience VIP hospitality at such a far-reaching event.

It is recalled that the five matches of the third group will be held on 28/8, 30/8, 31/8, 2/9, 4/9 of 2025. In total, 15 matches will be held in Limassol, with a stage, as mentioned above, at the Spyros Kyprianou Stadium.

It should be noted that due to the size of the event, the demands on the host country are particularly high and demanding, with the organising committee being asked - among other things - to cover around three million euros (in addition to state aid) in revenue, from sponsorships and ticket sales.
