UoL students visit Vassiliko Cement Works

Students from the University of Limassol experienced first-hand the power of sustainable technology during a visit to Vassiliko Cement Works, under the guidance of our Associate Professor of Finance and Director of the MSc in Green and Digital Management, Dr Olga Kandinskaia.

“This visit to Cyprus' leading heavy-industry enterprise, which boasts the largest state-of-the-art production line in Europe, exemplifies our ‘Learning by Doing’ philosophy at the University of Limassol,” the university said on its social media.

Key highlights included:

- An impressive €200 million investment in their production line, enhancing environmental performance and capacity.

- A pioneering 8 MW solar park, meeting 10% of their electricity needs.

- A remarkable 75% use of alternative fuels in production, setting a benchmark in the EU.
